Uwe Karrenberg, from Amazon.com This book is excellent for the understanding of functions of and processes within modern warehouse-management. It enables the reader to implement and use KPIs, process management and create transparency throughout the whole warehouse. Some examples refer to techniques, which have to be used with actual IT software to create control, e.g. KPIs concerning performance management. It gave me good ideas of how and where to use different techniques in optimizing the warehouse I am currently working on. I have been working in the logistics-industry since more than 10 years now and I have already read lots of lectures and books about logistics, supply-chain and warehousing, but this one is really up to date and provides important information for newbies and also the experienced managers who are working in the logistics. If you need know-how and like to improve your horizon, this one is a clear buy and hold. ASH, DC Manager, McDonough GA, from Amazon.com In conjunction with Six Sigma and Lean principles this book suggests that there are other ways to maximize supply chain efficiencies. The book is well written and easy to read. Additionally, the author provides many detailed graphics in order to allow the reader to better understand his concepts of Integral Warehouse Management. Sander de Leeuw, Assistant Professor, Free University Amsterdam This book fills a gap in the literature on supply chain management. No single other book shows how the important role of distribution centers in a supply chain can be developed. Van den Berg does this in a highly practical, yet well founded manner. Ronald Schepers, Sales Manager, Consafe Logistics B.V. As a logistics manager you should oversee the position of your organisation in the "Maturity Grid" of Jeroen van den Berg. It makes it possible to do the right things in the right order, helping to achieve better long-term results. Integral Warehouse Management has just the right theoretical depth. Karel de Jong, Logistics manager of the year 2007, Jumbo Supermarkets The book has truly surprised me. Jeroen has successfully set up a philosophy on warehouse management. Various facets of the discipline have not only been touched, but also treated in depth. Arjen Gieze, Student, VU University Amsterdam Integral Warehouse Management fits perfectly in the logistics program of our university. Traditionally in logistics education, the main focus is on transportation. However warehousing should not be forgotten. The book is logically structured. A step-by-step approach demonstrates how warehouse operations may be optimized, illustrated by lots of suggestions. The rest of the supply chain is also considered. This book is more complete than other books on this subject.
Arthur Kreffer, DC-manager, Zeeman Early February Jeroen van den Berg lectured at the Emlog course on Integral Warehouse Management. Now that I have read his book, I must say that I find it extraordinary. It is clearly written, a clear structure, very practical and sometimes with theoretical foundations. It is a reference book, theoretical exposition, checklist and "roadmap" at the same time, very clever! Being the DC manager at Zeeman, I have to deal with everything written in the book. It is nice to see a clear overview of everything that's possible. In the past years I collected many procedures and tips with the idea to once write a book or article, but that's not necessary anymore since Jeroen van den Berg has already done that. Thanks. |
