Jeroen van den Berg, Ph.D. (1967) is a prominent thinker and practitioner in the field of warehouse management and WMS. His innovating ideas set the standard in warehouse management. He has helped many enterprises to improve their distribution centres, their supply chain and their use of WMS. He uses an integral approach. A warehouse project never stands alone. Therefore, he considers the combination of strategy, processes, planning/control, organisation, information systems and the supply chain. With a university degree in mathematics, he is able to provide solid quantitative foundations for his advices. His goal is to realise substantial improvements for his clients and he does not hesitate to give his honest opinion in order to reach this goal. Nonetheless he gives a lot of room to other project members. Through a joint approach, where all team members have a substantial contribution, it is possible to limit the consulting costs while guaranteeing the commitment and feasibility of the chosen solutions.Beside his work as a consultant, he is a popular speaker at conferences and seminars. He is a teacher at various institutes, has written many trade publications and is often interviewed on his field of expertise. Since 1999 he investigates the WMS market in annual surveys, so that he has a broad knowledge of the market and the capabilities of systems. He is the author of the book “Integral Warehouse Management” (2007) which introduces a new approach for optimising warehouses. Also the book “Best Practices in Logistics Performance Indicators” (2006) has been published under his supervision. In 1996, Jeroen van den Berg was the first Dutchman who earned a Ph.D. degree in the field of warehousing with his thesis “Planning and Control of Warehousing Systems”. Since 2001 he leads the consulting firm Jeroen van den Berg Consulting (www.jvdbconsulting.com). |
